A big question for the art world: Could there be an alternative to provenance? And if so, what might it look like?
Mid-July is the time of year when even the most devoted heliophile prefers the shade. With another long month of scorching temperatures ahead, talk of snow days and Blue Northers have all but faded away. I find myself frivolously wondering "has it EVER been cold?" A chilly reminder of the brisk days of yore is the theme for this month's Fashion Finds. A personal favorite of mine, venerated fashion illustrator René Gruau (1909-2004), provided inspiration. His Winter Sun, circa 1950, epitomizes the chic Mont Blanc lifestyle of effortless high altitude elegance. My selection of vintage finds from boutiques & auction houses around the world is bound to have you dreaming of alpine days & après ski nights. "Barman, a round of hot toddies for the house!"
